This describes what happens to your information when you use hinespainting.com. It is written in plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, call or text the number above and ask.

What we collect because you gave it to us

When you book an estimate, request an instant quote, use the color visualizer, or apply for a job, you fill in a form. We use what you enter to contact you, prepare your estimate, and schedule the work.

When you call or text (209) 256-4587, we keep the call or message the way any business keeps a customer conversation.

What the website records on its own

Every page of this site records that the page was viewed. That record holds the page address, the site you arrived from if you came from another site, and a rough guess at whether you are on a phone or a computer. Taps on the phone and text links are recorded the same way.

Three things it deliberately does not do:

This record does not involve a cookie.
It contains no identifier for you, so one visit cannot be linked to another.
It is not sent anywhere. It goes into this website’s own database and stays there.

We keep it because it tells us which pages lead to phone calls. It cannot tell us who you are.

Booking, quotes, the visualizer and job applications

Those are run by Field Stash, our own scheduling and estimating software. Field Stash is not an outside vendor and your information is not being handed to another company to use. It is ours, it works only for us, and it is not permitted to use anything you enter there for any purpose of its own.

When you open the booking calendar or the instant quote, that section runs from fieldstash.com inside this page, and it does store information on your device, for up to 90 days, so we can tell which ad or link brought you to us.

If you arrived from one of our ads, what it stores includes the ad click identifier Google gave that click and the full web address you landed on, which can include the words you typed into Google and the town Google matched you to. It holds no name, email address or phone number. But an ad click identifier is unique to you and Google can connect it back to a person, so we treat it as personal information rather than telling you it is anonymous. We use it to connect work you hire us for back to the ad you clicked, which means telling Google that the ad worked. We do not sell it.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, none of that storage happens and no advertising measurement runs at all.

Those sections have their own privacy policy and it governs them: michael.hinespainting.com/privacy. It covers text messaging, uploaded photos and AI color rendering, your rights under California and other state law, and retention. We do not restate it here, so there is only ever one version of it.

Advertising

We advertise on Google. Most of our ads send you to pages on michael.hinespainting.com, which is also ours, and those pages carry Google’s advertising tools. They tell Google that an ad produced a booking, and they can add your visit to a Google advertising audience. The policy linked above governs those pages.

The ads that show when you search for us by name send you here to hinespainting.com instead, with a tag on the address so we can see the ad worked. This site itself carries no advertising tools and makes no requests to any advertising company.

One thing worth knowing if you arrived from any of our ads. Google places its own cookies on your device when you click an ad, and it sets them to cover hinespainting.com and everything under it, so they are on your device while you read this page. Google uses them to recognise that its ad led to a booking. We did not put them there and we cannot read them for anything else, but they are present because of our advertising, so we would rather tell you than let the sentence above imply your device is untouched.

We keep one of our own alongside it. It records which ad or link brought you to us, and it is set to cover hinespainting.com and everything under it so it still knows where you came from if you move between our pages. It holds no name, email address or phone number, it is read only by us, it is never handed to an advertising network, and it clears itself after 90 days. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not set it at all.

Recorded calls and recorded appointments

Calls are recorded. When you call us, a greeting plays before the call connects that tells you the call may be recorded. We record so that what we quoted and what we agreed to comes from the conversation rather than from anyone’s memory of it.

Estimate appointments are recorded. When we come out to look at the work, we tell you at the start of the visit and ask first. The recording is so the scope and the price come from the conversation rather than from memory.

You can ask us not to record, on the phone or at the appointment, and we will not.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information, and we never have.
We do not put another company’s code on this website: no advertising pixels, no analytics products, no session recording, no heat mapping, and no chat widget belonging to an outside chat company.
We do not run a cookie banner. This site sets nothing of its own on your device, and both the booking sections and our advertising honor the Global Privacy Control signal your browser can send.
The videos on this site are hosted on our own server, not on YouTube or any other video platform, so watching one tells nobody anything. Our fonts come from our own server too, not Google’s.

How long we keep things

Customer records and estimates are kept as business records for as long as we would keep any job file. Page-view and tap records are kept for 24 months and then deleted.

Your choices

Call or text (209) 256-4587 and we will tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it. There is no form for this and no waiting period. It is a small company and you will reach a person.

You can also ask us to stop contacting you at any time.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
